The average salary for a paramedic in Alaska is $46,630. Basic State Requirements

For every state you must first meet these requirements:

1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Possess a high school diploma or GED
3. Possess a current state-specific driver’s license

How to Become a Paramedic in Alaska:

1. Enter an Alaska-approved training program.

2. Register with the NREMT and pass the NREMT exam.

3. Pay any fees that are applicable to the documentation (i.e. application, licensure)

4. Find a job in the location you seek.  The Anchorage Fire Department is the leading EMS employer of the state.

Additional Information for Becoming a Paramedic

Alaska has 5 levels of certification. These levels are from the EMS (Emergency Medical Service) Dept. of Alaska. You must pass through these certifications to become a paramedic:

1. ETT (Emergency Trauma Technician)

2. EMT-I (analogous to EMT-Basic)

3. EMT-II (analogous to EMT-I/85)


5. MICP (Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic)
