Is schooling required to become a paramedic? If so, how many years?

    • admin says:

Yes. You will need at least a two-year degree to enter this field. Three great schools for paramedics are:
      1. Ozarks Technical Community College’s Dept of Allied Health
      2. St. Louis Community College’s Dept of Health Services
      3. Missouri Western State University’s College of Professional Studies

      Hope that helps a little.

Am I required to do EMT-B before I move up to paramedic? I’m a little lost on how the whole procedure works, where I need to go or even who to contact exactly. I read the previous comment and I live very close to Missouri Western. More or less, I just need to know where to start and this has been the most helpful site I’ve found.

Hi Joe, so glad we could help you out a little.

About your question: yes. EMT-B stand for Basic and that is the first step in a series of steps to becoming a paramedic in Missouri. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask. :)
